Career Fair
Career Fair is a yearly event that provides an opportunity for students, alumni, and employers to meet informally. Students and alumni have the opportunity to learn more about prospective employers while employers have the opportunity to meet students and alumni interested in securing internships and / or summer, part-time, and full-time employment. Career Fair will be held in the spring.

Tips and Strategies
Before:
- Be prepared to ask questions of the representatives. Practice out loud; it helps.
- Be able to articulate a 30 second summary of who you are and what you have to offer an employer. Preparation, enthusiasm and energy will get you noticed! (Do not ask about salary/benefits).
- Try to identify specific experiences where you have demonstrated your strengths, skills, and abilities.
- Know why you want to work for them. If you don't know, they won't know either.
- Develop a strong resume and bring sufficient copies for distribution.
- Prepare a list of employers that is prioritized.
During:
- Make eye contact immediately when introducing yourself.
- Remember the representative's name; if not, casually refer to their name tag. SMILE! and be polite - enthusiasm is an important quality.
- Dress to impress, proper business attire.
- Listen carefully to what the representative has to say! Don't get distracted.
- Avoid using filler words such as, "um," "like," "ya know."
- Show confidence in your voice. The room will be noisy, and if they can't hear you, they won't remember you.
- Be articulate and sell yourself.
- Ask for a business card or write down the representative's name.
- Representatives are here to provide information about their businesses.
- Manage your time; then if time permits, visit employer tables that may not have been on your list.
After:
- Mailing a thank you letter is not only appropriate, it can also bring attention to your name.
- You can send an additional resume in your thank you letter; again, point out your strengths.
